How Flexweb Maintains Consistent Quality Across Every Flexible Packaging Order

When brands switch from imported to local flexible packaging, one of the most common concerns is quality consistency. “Will the film and printing be the same every time?”

At Flexweb, quality is not an afterthought — it is built into every stage of our integrated operation in Germiston.

Here’s how we ensure that every batch meets specification, whether you’re ordering 5,000 or 500,000 units.

Integrated Manufacturing = Better Control

Because we extrude film, print, laminate and convert under one roof, we eliminate many of the hand-offs that create quality issues when multiple suppliers are involved.

When a problem occurs, we can trace it back through the entire process quickly and make corrections at the root cause rather than just at the converting stage.

Rigorous Incoming Material and Process Controls

Every raw material batch is checked against specification before it enters production. Film recipes are locked and version-controlled. Print and lamination settings are recorded against each job.

This level of process discipline is only possible because we control the full manufacturing chain.

In-Process and Final Testing

We don’t rely on “it looked good on the machine.” Every production run includes:

  • Gauge and basis weight checks
  • Bond and burst strength testing
  • Print quality and registration verification
  • Seal strength and hot-tack testing where relevant
  • Visual inspection against approved standards

We generate a Certificate of Conformity (COC) for every batch that includes the actual test results.

Traceability from Resin to Finished Pouch

Each roll and each pallet of finished packaging carries full traceability back to the specific production date, shift, machine, and raw material batches used.

If a customer ever has a question or concern, we can investigate and respond with actual data within hours — not days or weeks.

Continuous Improvement, Not Just Compliance

Our BRC, ISO 9001:2015 and HACCP certifications are important, but they are minimum standards. We treat them as a foundation and continue to invest in better process control, operator training, and equipment upgrades.

We also run regular internal audits and customer feedback reviews to identify improvement opportunities before they become problems.

What This Means for Our Customers

Brands working with Flexweb benefit from:

  • Consistent quality batch after batch
  • Faster investigation and resolution when questions arise
  • Confidence that food safety and regulatory requirements are being met
  • A partner who can support both high-volume and more agile, lower-volume requirements without quality compromises

Quality is one of the main reasons companies stay with local manufacturers once they make the switch.

If consistent, well-documented quality on printed pouches, barrier films and flexible laminates is important to your business, we’d be happy to discuss how our systems can support your requirements.
